[Editor's note – continuation from split thread here: viewtopic.php?t=623]

Well i have to wait for Amazon to deliver today, anytime after 3pm, officially 10pm

While im waiting, i thought id ask what parts i should stock up on, naturally ill need more nosels, i could even make them, well i have 2 sons that can help out, i have stainless, brass, bronze, gold, can get most materials locally, i use to buy from them for many years.

Took a look at weefun filaments, they have listed;

5 Pcs Printer PLA Filament 1.75mm, 3D PLA Printing Filament, 5 Colors 3D Printing Filament Materials for 3D Printer, Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.02mm (Red, Blue, White, Yellow, Black, Total 1250G)
£34.99

Im not to worred about the price, its the quality im wondering about, are there rubbish filements being sold?

Anything you can think of i might need, please let me know.

Thanks

Sir John

Hot a reply from Weefun
Hi John,
Thank you for your purchase. The TINA2S is supported to use with most PLA, PLA+ and TPU filaments. For beginners, we recommand to use with PLA filament.
Due to the size constraints of the TINA2S, the included wire racks are unable to hold 1kg/Spool filament. You can purchase 250g or 200g per spool filaments.

Due to the different manufacturers of material filament production ratios are different, so the printing temperature and humidity, the quality of the effect is not the same.

Here are our filaments sold in UK and USA, for your reference:

UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B1J2C3K8
USA: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BHSKMQT3

***** Btw, i read on the SD card, you can print the larger spool holders, demo on youtube.com ****

Rest of the email
If you're experiencing clogging issues, try the video method below to clean it up:

1] Clean the nozzle first, video guide for reference:
Slightly clogged nozzle Clean, go to "Prepare>Feed/Load Filament, and then follow this video:

Or clean the nozzle via this video:

2] check the fan if keep running well while filament loading/ nozzle heated and printing. Fans that don't run or stop working intermittently can cause plugging
If fan not working well, filament can not be cooling on time or the weather is too cold/hot, it might also cause nozzle Block.
If fan works well and the nozzle has been clean, the go to step 3.

3] Then re-adjust the Z-offset:

The gap between the nozzle and the build platform is recommended to be the thickness of a sheet of A4 paper. You can use a piece of A4 paper between the nozzle and the platform, drag the A4 paper back and forth horizontally, there is a little friction, which proves the correct spacing adjustment.

I hope these information help you. If you should need any further information or help in the future, please feel free to contact us, we will do our best to assist you.

Thank you again for choosing us!
Hope you enjoy it ^V^

Getting back to the 1k filement, i read you can print the large spool holders, (Included on the SD card) they like two bent bars, but they have bearings, where would i get those berings from? Are they nothing special, so buy anywhere.

Would the machine fall over with that weight 😊 on the side? 4 times the normal size.

I dont know what can be printed with the 250g im looking to print some small figures, like groot 😀 we both hooked on the guardians of the galaxy.

Im following advice, dont run until you learn to walk properly.

Maybe within a few weeks, the xyl will have this , i should learn a bit by then, and buy a much larger one, perhaps as listed on Amazon

Creality Ender 3 V2 Neo 3D Printer with CR Touch Auto Leveling,PC Steel Printing Platform,Metal Bowden Extruder,Model Preview Function 3D Printers 95% Pre-Install for Beginners and Pro (220*220*250mm)
Steel Printing?

I have 5 Epson printers, ok one is A3 but the 760 is for high quality photos, 6 carriages.

So i might end up with 5 3D printers, like the Epson printers, each has its own specal appeal to me.

So ive learned something already, the filement comes mostly in 1Kg spools.

I must admin the Epson 7720 at £525 when new, turned out to be a waste of money, has the eco tanks, but keeps giving problems, so i bought a cheap one just for A4 letters.

So i may end up wasting money on 3D printers, which at the start of this, i didnt want to do.

But there is no way i can buy a self adsemble, else cost teice as much paying one of my sons to put it togesther. Sigh...💵

So the replies on here have changed what i was planning to do, i dont want an anxiety attack, just plug it in snd print... Well the wife is going to be the first 👍🏻

Ive not read everything written here yet, i promist i will, i just have a limited time to spend on doing these things.

Its not here yet 🤣

Edit
Oh, almost forgot, you mentioned "paint" was wondering what that Paint might be? Use to use 14ml Humbrol enamel paint years ago, i see they still sell it. What paint would i use?

Edit
Ok, so the spoolers dont fit on the side of the printer 🥵 bearings are also on Amazon, along with the 3D Printer Filament Holder £6

Update
Seams to be a problem, cant seam to buy the nozzels for the "S" version, mostly sold in the USA, but in UK there seams to be a kit, which is £19.99

Printer just arrived just this second

:o omg

Well i know i dont have any experience with 3D printers, but the Tina 2 s,looked really good, and from what i read it seams to be a good printer for me to learn on.

Couldnt get the android app to do anything.

Couldnt get the Windows 11 programs to do much at all.

So in the end, i thought id try getting the printer to print something from the TrabsFlash card, and picked a Rabbit

Yippy i thought when it started to do things, it looked like it was at last working, then after about 25 minutes it suddenly stopped, i looked at the screen which seam to have reset, the printer just stopped.

As i know nothing, i thought it needed to cool down before it continues, 30 minutes later i had changed my mind about it cooling down.

So i selected home, removed what was about 3 layers, which came apart, thinking again perhaps the bottom bit was separate

😜 So here i am again printing a dinosaur, teradactile i think, so far it has put about 10 layers and is still printing, says 1 hour 17 minutes total print.

The spool that comes is very small, just for testing i guess, it dont fit on the arm and is very jumpy.

Ill let you know if it finishes this time, else a phone call to Amazon in the morning..

Sorry about typos, using a cell phone with big thumbs..

John

This is no longer "general discussion", so I'm going to split the thread up and move it (done).

There's an awful lot for me to comment on, so forgive me if I don't reply tonight!!!

Sorry about that, new toy and trying to get it to work.

Finally i have printed a teridactle (dinosaur) surprise to see it is full jointed too, so the next problem, was trying to print from the pc.

I gave up on Wibuilder, and im using Ultimaker Cura, but still loading the files that came with the printer.

Do i need to store a photo on the net before i can post it here, be good for you to see what ive achived.

Thanks, ill keep trying Groot until it "looks" big enough.

Need to wait until Amazon delivers a load of filenent, and i need to buy that larger holder, im running out of filenent fast

I searched for free 3D files, looking for Groot, when i downloaded it was 2 zip files, one with a .OBJ and others .STL (lots of them)

So i loaded the OBJ file into Cura, all seams ok, but when i printed it was very very small.

Trying to cram my brain very quickly, and missing out important bits.

Any recommended free sites to download from?

Dont worry about all the questions, a lot if time im thinking out loud, then i get something working having said i couldn't 😁

Be good if someone here has a Tina 2, and can point me to the free downloads, i need a lot of practice.

Thanks for your patience, i appreciate that.

Why??? Your nozzle won't wear out unless you use abrasive filaments, and there is a spare included in the box.

You should worry about price, because it's gonna get expensive. I expect to pay £16-£20 for a 1kg reel, eBay is as good a source as anywhere, and you can stick with well-known brands if you're concerned about quality. That said, the above isn't a bad way to get a small quantity of several colours, but 250g of any particular colour won't last long (some colours are more useful than others, you'll find out which by your own experience and can then restock 1kg in that).

But you'll always find the colour you want isn't a colour you have in stock!

Buying by 250g (or even 500g) is uneconomic, unless that's all you need for a project and you'll never need that filament again.

Beware also that filament doesn't store well. PLA is less susceptible, but some materials are particularly hygroscopic, and moisture content results in bad prints (you'll hear it spitting). You might like to invest in a filament desiccator (although a domestic oven on low will do the job).

Nothing new here – you REALLY SHOULD read the existing material about Tina2 on this forum (Tina2S is so similar as makes no difference).

It doesn't really matter about bearings, the extruder motor will overcome moderate friction... but people like bearings because they seem like an upgrade!

I've been experimenting with different strategies, and will eventually release some Tina2 upgrade designs on Thingiverse or somewhere, but it's a back-burner thing and I'm not ready.

Really??

The slicer will tell you how much filament is needed for any particular print.

No, steel build plate.

I like my ET-4550, my only real complaint being lack of straight-through print path option. This might be a case of blame the user...
KingJohn wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 3:04 pm i dont want an anxiety attack, just plug it in snd print...
I've already said that's unlikely.
KingJohn wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 3:04 pm Ive not read everything written here yet
That much is obvious.

Anything which sticks on but doesn't melt plastic!

I already said you don't need that, and even if you do the nozzle is pretty standard (unlike the Flashforge).

For "seam" read "seem". "seam" means something else, and is relevant to 3D printing.

FFS stop panicking! Are you ADHD by any chance? I've told you SEVERAL TIMES this is a learning process, you don't expect instant results and IT WOULD HELP ENORMOUSLY if you read things beforehand and watched a few YouTube videos before you dive in so that you know what's OK and what's not.
KingJohn wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 11:17 pm I gave up on Wibuilder, and im using Ultimaker Cura, but still loading the files that came with the printer.
If you mean .gcode files, that will only work to a very limited extent. The process is (and you CANNOT short-cut):
  1. Download or design a 3D model. This will probably be a .stl file (there are other 3D file types);
  2. Import the .stl into Cura, select the appropriate printer and filament type, position the displayed model in the indicated build volume (you have the option to scale and rotate it, and opt for "drop down" so it is actually on the build platform; the model will be shown in stripes if it isn't properly within the volume), choose your adhesion and support types, then click "slice". Then you can see how long it will take and how much filament is required, and preview how it will print in order to check the support and raft etc. The result is a .gcode file, which comprises all the individual print vectors and extrusion control for the printer to act on.
  3. Transfer the .gcode file to the printer (I prefer to do that on a microSD card, but there may be other options), and print.
KingJohn wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 11:17 pm I searched for free 3D files, looking for Groot, when i downloaded it was 2 zip files, one with a .OBJ and others .STL (lots of them)

You can scale it in Cura, but I think you'll be better off using the .stl.

What did I say?
KingJohn wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 11:17 pm Any recommended free sites to download from?
"Free" does not mean "good", and if you find somebody's efforts useful why not pay them? Many models are available as donation-ware, here's one I rather like: viewtopic.php?p=1149#p1149

I could supply you that ready-sliced for Tina2S (although I only have a Tina2 to test it).
KingJohn wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 11:17 pm Be good if someone here has a Tina 2, and can point me to the free downloads, i need a lot of practice.
You don't download models for a specific printer, there are too many different types of printer. What you do is download generic .stl models and then slice them for your printer (to create .gcode). It's like downloading source code and then compiling it to run on your particular computer.

The slicing process is important: that's where you set up all your own preferences for bed adhesion etc etc etc. You need to learn the differences between raft, brim, and skirt (or none) and decide which works best for you or even any particular model (see viewtopic.php?t=587). Then there is nozzle temperature for the first layer and subsequent layers, spacing between support and model, etc etc etc. It's all tunable (which is where lies the art!).

I just assumed id need a lot of nozzels, so weefun tell me they nothing specal 0.4 nn across and a 1.75 ? Hole. I did get a spair.

Im lucky when it comes to money, so not worried about vost at all, they can be ,£200 a roll i wouldn't care, just quality is my concern.

Amazon delivery today inclodes a 1k spool holder, so i can now start buying bigger rolls.

I slready spoke to weefun, tge confirmed i should not out 2kg spools on the sude if the printer, went in to tell me what i should buy to hold them, which i had already orderd.

There is anothernon its was the heats and keeps the filement dry and no humidity, do i dont think i was being silly when asking if 4 times the wait would cause problems.

The slicer had not been used until i finally got around to printing s fat crackodile. Im using Cura as it easy to get up and running, print firect or save to my sd card, so wouldnt have known. It calculated how much filement is needed.

Since last night i have now designed my own, made a small box with a closable lid, in 2 colours, i am a fast learner, people comment about something, so off i go and read a lot.

Free, i think you misunderstood, they were test files, since then i have purshed many, the printer has been printing all night, and has made many good models.

Ive orderd 2 more tina 2 S, and are now reviewing metals, multi colours and more, im hooked.

No i dont have ADHD, and find your remarks very offensive, its true i do have an illness that prevents me spending more than about 15 minutes at a time before needing to rest for an hour or so.

****** None of your business ****"

With that, wont be visiting this place again, when idiots like you run it as a private forum for you and a cuple of mates.

Your right, i didnt read anything you wrote , because you dont know how to reply to anyone just starting out.

Goodby, good luck, your going to need to spend some time with anger management.

For one thing, if you're going to spend time on forums or in any other public conversation, you need to develop a sense for when remarks are light-hearted and when they're not, and even when they're not you'll need a thicker skin.

For another: if you're going to think out loud and commit so much to public scrutiny (and in such poor written language), you will have to expect some criticism. It's better if you curate what you say rather than splurge it out and expect readers to pick through the drivel.

If you bother to go back and read exactly the context (or get somebody less offensible to review it for you), I think you'll find there is not so much offence there as you have taken.

I'm not going to apologise outright, your impetuous nature is evident in your posts. You asked for opinions, but then went ahead without them as if you had made your mind up already. You should be grateful I spent so much time reading your output, trying to make sense of it, and composing my advice (which was a waste of my precious time because you were already dashing headlong without it).

However, you won't be reading this, so your funeral.
