I have worked with a stationary 3D scanner once but it still needed some improvements. Most of the good ones are expensive. And I am really looking forward to work with hand held scanners.

Re: Flashforge creator pro 2016 problem
It’s probably the extruder which is inefficient in its working. You can view the user manual of the equipment to be clear with the trouble and this would also inform you about the kind of stepper motor you need for your 3D printer.

Re: noob struggling to get started
First of all, get a print manual for the 3D printer and see if you did everything in order. If it’s set to go, the manual would also provide you instructions relating the movement and operation of the 3D printer and even about loading a model into the Cura.

Re: Is this printer ok for first time?
Flashforge Creator Pro is definitely one of the high-quality 3D printers which is reasonably cheap too. You can definitely go for this. And if you wish to have alternatives, a Wombot Exilis XL 3D printer or Wanhao Duplicator 6 are also some superlative 3D printers. https://www.3dprintersbay.com/flsu...

Re: Using the printer as a mapping device.
You can always use a good-quality 3D scanner for your purpose, or try a simple SONAR with an ultrasonic sensor.

Re: Which 3D printer to buy?
Great thought if you wish to buy a 3D Printer, but you did not mention the budget. Ensure the kind of need you have with the 3D printer and then invest your money on ...

And while the equipment is still under warranty, you can call the technical experts to r...

Re: Material Advice
No need to CNC machine the objects. You can build the desired 3D objects by 3D printing only. And as far as 3D printing materials are concerned, you can use ABS or PETG for the purpose.
PLA is generally not suitable for objects that need to sustain the force.
